General Information and Expectations
4th grade is departmentalized this year. Your child will switch classes and have three teachers for each subject area. Mrs. Allen teaches English/Language Arts, Miss Phillips teaches Math, and Mr. Hill teaches Science and Social Studies. The rules are uniform throughout each of the classrooms and we hold high expectations for each student. On this page, you will find general information and classroom expectations for the entire grade level. To find more information for each subject area, please visit the page of each subject area.
Communication Folders
All graded and information papers will be sent home every Wednesday. If your child does not give you his or her folder, please ask. We ask that you please review the papers in your child's folder, sign it, and have your child return it to his or her homeroom teacher the next day. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Remember...we are here to help your child succeed!
Volunteer Opportunities
If you would like to volunteer, please let your child's homeroom teacher know. We would love to have your help in making this a great year for your child.
POWERSCHOOL
We will use Powerschool to track our grades and attendance. If you do not currently have access to Powerschool, please visit the office for information on signing up for an account. If you have any questions about your child's grades, please contact either Mrs. Allen (ELA), Mr. Hill (Science/Social Studies), or Miss Phillips (Math).

Class Dojo
Fourth grade will also be using Class Dojo as a classroom/block motivator to help encourage positive behavior. If you would like to sign up for reminders, please refer to the information sheet regarding Class Dojo. This is also an additional way to track your child's behavior and to stay involved with the classrooms.
Remind 101 is also an app that parents can download and is a convenient and efficient way to contact any one of your child's teacher if you need to briefly communicate. Once you have downloaded the app and signed up, you will want to enter the class code to join the 4th grade team. The class code is: elm4bears
Snacks/Allergies
We have a few students with severe allergies to peanuts and/ or tree nuts in our classes. Due to the seriousness of this allergy, we ask that you please refrain from sending peanut or tree nut products to school for snacks or class parties. A peanut free table will be available for allergic students and/or students who do not have these items with them. Please make sure all snacks are healthy/clean up friendly. We will be eating snacks in Block 2, so your child will be responsible for his or her snack.
For information on food allergies, please refer to www.faiusa.org.
Conferences
If you would like a conference, please notify your child’s homeroom teacher. Conferences will be scheduled with all Fourth Grade teachers. If you have any concerns, please notify us.
